AMAC Conference
IAA had the pleasure of attending the 31st annual AMAC conference (sponsored by Broward County Aviation Department and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau), which was held at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, June 12-16th.
Over 1200 attendees gathered to learn how women and minorities can do business with airports in the US. Attendees included AMAC members and airport directors, representatives from government agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation and others interested in business opportunities in the aviation industry.
Activities included: Business matchmaking (a registered event) where attendees could meet with businesses they wanted to try and collaborate with. Panel discussions and workshops that focused on issues/ FAQs that many small businesses face. Best practices are shared. Exhibitors share their story, meet potential decision makers in airports, and interact with attendees to share their brand. Some of the opportunities that attendees were able to partake in are concessions- both food and beverages, maintenance of plane fleets, landscaping, and of course advertising!
Nightly receptions gave attendees a chance to relax and network.
